I wanted to update everyone on Sam, Sinatra and Mama Kitty...
I will start with some sad news first...Sinatra passed away last Friday evening. I have been too sad to talk about it, but he put up an EXTREMELY tough fight. He had beat the panleuk, but the pneumonia was just too much :( Thank you all so much for your prayers and financial support for this sweet, sweet kitty. I am still heartbroken and a little in disbelief he did not make it :( I know he has gone on to a happier place and at least he didn't die in the cold shelter where no one cared. We gave him a chance.
Sam, sweet Sam...he had his surgery last Thursday evening for his pelvis. It went extremely well and he is recovering at the vets now. We are still looking for donations to cover his vetting so please see below if you can help. We are also looking for a foster for Sam so we can find him a forever home. The vet and his staff have fallen in love with Sam and say he is the COOLEST cat they have had in a while :) He will need rest for about 5 more weeks so a place with not too many cats will be ideal.
Mama Kitty and Baby Kitty...We rescued this little family last week...The shelter RVT called me to ask me if I could rescue them. He told me it was a sweet mom cat and her 5 week old kitten that were brought into the shelter 10 days ago after they were "attacked by a dog." The RVT said that they have been monitoring her and the kitten in the clinic and the kitten seems to have recovered fine but the mom still can't seem to walk on her leg...So I went ahead and pulled her and her kitten and took her to my vet.
My vet informed me that the mom cat has a severely severed spine...I am so upset because the shelter let the cat sit there for 10 days and did nothing but give her antibiotics. The vet was able to tell that something was wrong with the spine before even taking xrays. The vet says the chances of her walking again are extremely slim. She has a urinary tract infection since she was unable to output on her own while at the shelter and she needs to be assisted with that at least twice a day. She is a darling little kitty and so is her kitten. We are taking her to a surgeon on Friday for a second opinion and then possibly a neurologist...but most likely she will just need to find a home that accepts her for the way she is and can help her go to the bathroom 2 or 3 times a day...just like taking a dog fro a walk :) I have included an inspiring youtube video of a cat that was paralyzed after falling out of a window...please take a look and see how promising mama kitty's life can be...and if any one can foster her and her kitten or adopt, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I do not want to euthanize this darling...she is waaaaayy to special and has such potential!!
